We are very pleased to announce that Ask Marc has been awarded accreditation through the LimeCulture Independent Accreditation Programme for the Quality Standards for Services Supporting Male Victims / Survivors of Sexual Violence.

This award follows an assessment process by a team of experts across four domains: Leadership and Governance, Access and Engagement, Service Delivery, and Outcomes and Evaluation.

The Quality Standards aim to improve the consistency of service provision for male survivors of sexual violence and abuse. They provide a clear robust framework for support, in particular recognising the gender-based needs of men. The standards set out expectations of the ISVA service’s leadership and staff, and articulate what survivors should experience as a result.

Black Country Women’s Aid CEO, Sara Ward said:

“We are really proud to have achieved this accreditation which demonstrates the high standard of our ISVA support for male survivors.
We launched Ask Marc in 2021 as a dedicated service for men and boys, as we recognised that there is still a great deal of silence around male experiences of sexual abuse, which means that men don’t always know where to go to get support. With ask Marc, we were able to develop messages to reach men directly, and a range of gender-specific interventions, including groups and outdoor adventure therapy. Since then we have had a great response to the service, with many more men and boys coming forward for help.
Being assessed by experts and receiving this accreditation adds a stamp of quality as we continue to develop Ask Marc, letting survivors know that they can access the service with confidence”
